Memorial Quilt

19 Aug

We received a gift over the weekend that took my breath away. My mother-in-law is a very talented quilter and we had decided after Tilda died, that we wanted to turn some of her clothes into a quilt. We had spent a heartbreaking yet wonderful afternoon, sorting through her clothes, remembering when she wore a particular top and smiling when thinking of her wearing a certain pair of pyjamas. Clothes have a wonderful way of transporting you back to a moment in time and I knew that this quilt would be something special.

It was more than I had even hoped for. Each square is a treasure trove, her clothes turned into not just a memorial but a beautiful piece of art. Plus a gorgeous case, made from her cardigans and jackets,  for when we want to tuck it away safely.

Thank you Karen. It is simply stunning.

What a wonderful idea. It is quite possibly the most exquisitely beautiful quilt I have ever seen. What an amazing item it is woven with love, memories, tears, joy, laughter and the life story of a beautiful angel who touched all our lives. May it surround you with love and warmth for many years to come.

What a beautiful gift. It will bring a smile when you remember all the good times you had with Tilda wearing her favourite clothes and give you comfort by wrapping yourself in it when you are sad. Love Anne
