At the hospital

25 Aug

We returned yesterday from a really fun few days away with some friends. We lingered longer in Yarrawonga! Logistically, travelling any distance with Tilda and Maggie is not such an easy task but I like to believe it is worth it. And mostly it is.

Unfortunately, since our return, Maggie has developed her first fever and Tilda has had some vomiting and diarrhoea so it has been quite the homecoming. Tilda has not quite been 100% over the last week or so. There has been an increase in seizures and we are not seeing the smiles that we love. The earlier rash was not chicken pox and cleared up very quickly but something else was clearly brewing. This morning there was some more vomiting and diarrhoea as well as a fever so into hospital we came.

The suspicion is gastro and we are currently in emergency waiting for blood results. The other concern is the increase in seizures. With her meds not being kept down, the bloods will let us know whether they are at a therapeutic level at all. We will be staying here tonight definitely and just see how she goes.

Maggie’s fever is likely to just be a cold. She has a runny nose and is pretty grumpy although still trying to beam whenever she can.

Not a fun time but we are in the right place and they are doing all they can do. We will keep you posted.

I can only imagine what you are both going through. One has to experience it to really understand. To have had a few happy days and to end it like this is so unfair. I guess life is unfair but enough is enough. Our thoughts are with you all but that is no consolation. I hope that everyone gets better as soon as possible.

All fingers and toes crossed that Tilda and Maggie are soon well again. And the smiles come back from Tilda. It must be so hard having both sick at once. I hope the seizure issue is resolved with proper meds. And Maggie’s cold is just that.
    Thinking of you all.
Sending, bouncing, heaping love to all. Love Cally xx
