Wish Day – November 25th 2011

27 Nov

I hardly know where to begin. What a day.  What a joyous, fun, laughter-filled, happy day. The biggest thanks must go to everyone in Team Tilda for willing the sun to shine! The day before, I was convinced that the rains were coming and even early Friday morning, I had decided that it would still be ok, even if it was overcast. Not only did it not rain at all but the sun shone down with all its might! It is truly amazing what collective goodwill can do.

Some highlights

  • Matilda on the roller coaster.  As predicted, once she got on, she did NOT want to get off! The staff actually had to tell me after an hour that she should probably have a break because she might be sick!
  • Everyone on the dodgem cars! I don’t know what it is about dodgem cars but they can turn the most mild-mannered of people into raging maniacs! The sight of people flying around that track had everyone in fits of laughter. Tilda adored it, the more bumping the better!
  • The incredible face-painter who turned all the kids into monsters, fairies, dogs and butterflies.
  • Tony the magician with his adorable bunny rabbits.
  • Looking around at one point and seeing small children everywhere clutching boxes of KFC popcorn chicken!
  • Standing inside the tent where everyone had gathered and seeing just how supported and loved we are. It was overwhelming.
  • and so much more
This was a day that we will remember and cherish forever and we hope that everyone who was there feels the same way. Yesterday and today, I am still feeding off those moments and know that I will be doing that for a long time to come.
Thank you to Dan, Danni and all the Wish Fairies from Make A Wish for making this wish come true.

Thank you to the Wonderland Funpark for providing the park, staff, food and entertainment for no cost and with such kindness.

Thank you to all of you who came for having as much fun as Tilda did.

Thank you to all the parents for allowing your children to consume enormous amounts of sugar!

Thank you to all who couldn’t come but wanted to and for sending your love to us.

Here is a link to some pictures from the day – photos that definitely capture just how much fun everyone was having. There will be more to come but thank you so much to Millie for providing these.

Matilda’s Wish Day

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

I haven’t laughed that hard in ages – between catching up with friends, riding the wave and the dodgems multiple times, and watching all the kids loving it, the whole day was fantastic; thank you all so much. Wouldn’t have believed Tilda could remain on the rollercoaster for quite so long if I hadn’t actually seen it…

It was a LOVELY day and the photos are great. Like everyone else I hadn’t realised Tilda spent an hour on the rollercoaster and THEN took on the dodgems. What a girl!!!

We were so pleased to be part of such an awesome day – it felt great to be care free and silly again. On the drive home our 2 year old daughter said “mummy, Matilda likes cars; Matilda’s mummy likes crashes!” So, there you go Laura, watching you both fly around on the dodgems was Claire’s highlight of the day (Bill loved the 3 serves of “fairy fluff”). We came away from the morning raving to family and work colleagues about how much enjoyment we had and it’s so pleasing that you all felt the same. What a buzz!!! E x

It was wonderful to finally meet you Laura, and Tilda and lots of your family and friends as I hear so much about you from Janet. It certainly was a day to remember and a great tribute to you that so many came to join in the fun. It was the first time I had ever driven a dodgem car!

We thought of you all on Friday and have now heard wonderful reports of your great day. We look forward to seeing the video of an excited little girl on the roller coaster. And Simon’s speech we are told was very moving. Hope to see you all soon
    Lots of love

My favourite part of the day was the big cuddle I got from Tilds when contemplating if the rollercoaster or the dodgem cars were my favourite… 🙂 Such a fabulous day! Something we can talk about & remember for the rest of our lives. Visions of Tilds giggling on the rollercoaster & driving the dodgem cars are now implanted in my head & heart. Massive fat love to you all.

The sun certainly did shine on Friday Laura…..in every way. .And the star of the day was undoubtedly Tilda – her great sense of fun , enjoyment and laughter on the rollercoaster was contagious and a delight to watch . And that so many came to share the day is indeed a resounding tribute to you and Simon and all that you are and give . The memories ( and photos ) are very special…..love Daryl.

Hey Laura, What an amazing day …from the face painting to the bubbles to the fairy floss and roller coaster – it was all magical. I do believe that Harry ate his body weight in sugar (and I’m really not kidding about that!). You looked so happy and Tilda is a daredevil – what a team. Hopefully see you sunday and we can toast the day again with a champers! love be xo

Laura, I’m so glad the day went well, in fact it sounds like it was fantastic! So glad for you, and Tilda, and all the family, and everyone! I was thinking of you all, having fun, so I’m rapt the day lived up to my imagination.

P.S. I’m Kate’s friend from the Dreamy Dumpling Day 🙂

Laura and Simon, thanks so much for such an incredible day, we had such a ball and the vibe was just so great, everyone there to support you guys and to share an amazing day with Tilda. It was truely magical. Bonnie and Chilli have been wearing their ‘Tilda tights’ all week- gorgeous bright coloured tights that I’ve stuggled to get them in all year, but since seeing Tilda in them they are suddenly a hit!! Loved the popcorn chicken, and the fairy floss too, it was perfect! xo m
